The Art of Change
It's about time...and space, and the changes that affect our lives. Soho Galleries asked artists from Cuba, Mexico, and the US for their interpretations of change, and the response has been overwhelming. Artists that will be on display include Roberto Diago, Eduardo Abela (both of whom are currently on display in the Bellas Artes Museum in Havana), Frank Martinez, Kadir Lopez, Kelvin Lopez, Carlos Camero, Ernesto Villanueva, Raciel Gomez, Ballart (all the foregoing are from Cuba), David Reed (American artist living in Mérida), and Samuel Barrera (native Yucatecan). In addition, they are featuring a collection of whimsical clocks by American artist David Scherer.
Soho Galleries, open since November 2008, has become known for its exposure of well-known Cuban artists, its showcasing of talented young local artists, and the stunning digital photography of Nicholas Lavroff, displayed in three different spaces. The show "The Art of Change" opens May 21 (inauguration at 7pm) and runs through August. The following Cuban artists will be attending the show on May 21: Eduardo Abela, Kadir Lopez, Ernesto Villanueva, Carlos Camero, Raciel Gomez Golpe. Also attending will be David Reed (US) and Samuel Barrera (Mérida).
Inauguration Friday, May 21, 7 pm
Hours: 10:30 am to 6:30 pm Monday-Friday, 10:30 am to 2 pm Saturdays, closed Sundays.
