Merida to Mexico city buses

Hi, I am a wildlife photographer from India coming to Merida to attend the Wilderness Congress in Nov 09. I would like to take the bus back to Mexico City. I am told that it's a long journey of 20 hours, yet, I feel that's a better option to experience the country and it's culture. What are the bus options from Merida to Mexico City and how much does it cost ? Would welcome all kind of information on bus travel in Mexico.
