Marina Silcer
Marina Silcer, the only marina with a restaurant on the coast is in Chicxulub! Located at the former installation of Merida’s Country Club. This is great news for everyone - for Pedro Pablo Silveira's students, for the locals, for the snowbird community and for tourists.
A little history: Pedro Pablo Silveira Cervera (hence Silcer... the first syllables of his paternal and maternal last names) grew up with a love for the sea. At 14 he started windsurfing and went on to participate in the Olympics in Atlanta 1996. He became quite well known in his day. It was a cause of pride for every Yucatecan to have someone they knew participating in the Olympics.
When he came back from the 1996 Olympics he finished up college with a degree in Accounting. His love, however, continued to be the sea. In order to continue pursuing his passion, he came up with the idea of giving windsurf classes to the local kids. In a heartbeat, his school grew as did the services he offered.

Pedro Pablo Silveira opened Marina Silcer in 2000. The first Marina Silcer, located just east of Chicxulub, was a happening place from the beginning with windsurfing, kite boarding, hobie cats, kayaks, a ramp for launching boats, storage for power and sailboats, a summer camp and an excellent restaurant with quite a reputation for good, fresh home cooking.
Everything at Marina Silcer was running smoothly except the place was getting too small for all the activities that were taking place there and there wasn't enough beach for all the sailboats.
Pedro Pablo knew he had to expand which meant moving, so he bought a nice piece of land in San Bruno about 20 kilometers east of Chicxulub. Before he could do anything there, the opportunity to rent the Cocoteros installation in the heart of Chicxulub became available.
The physical space is huge as is the beach so there is room for all the water sports equipment (sailboats, windsurfs, kayaks, hobiecats, etc.) during regattas; and there is now space for the awards ceremonies and his school.

There are also sunny areas, shady areas, and various terraces with great views of the sea. The pool is semi-Olympic so you can do all the laps you want! And it is a nice deep pool, which is not common here in the Yucatan.
The new branch, Marina Silcer Cocoteros opened to the public on December 1st, 2006 with the restaurant, bar and school up and running.
For those who are wondering about the first Marina Silcer in Chicxulub, it is still functioning on a smaller scale providing customers with the boat ramp and storage.
Services offered at Marina Silcer Cocoteros include their great restaurant, bar, swimming pool, classes for windsurf, kite boarding, rental of equipment, kayaks, tennis courts, hammocks, towels, a surf shop, children's play area (with the shell of a real wave runner) and a space with two computers with internet.
For all the snowbirds in Chicxulub, Uaymitun and the Progreso area, this is an option for get togethers, meetings, lunch, sunset drinks and dinner. It is also a great place to take your guests.
Pedro Pablo welcomes you all and is open for suggestions on how he can serve you and how you can take advantage of these great installations that are now open to the public and not a private club.
