Restaurant of the Month

Saint Bonnet

Saint Bonnet is the restaurant that set the tone for finer food and service along Progreso’s beachfront Malecon. For years Progreso was known for fried fish stands and not much more. With the opening of Saint Bonnet, eggs Benedict for breakfast, seafood crepes and crab or cheese stuffed shrimp are available to diners in Progreso.

While seafood (lobster, fish, squid, shrimp, crab, oysters and octopus), is the typical fare at the beach, at Saint Bonnet you can choose from Yucatecan specialties (chicken pibil, poc chuc, chicken in escabeche, lime soup, papadzules, etc.), beef cuts (filet mignon, beef tenderloin, pepper steak, pork chops), poultry (crepes, chicken breast in various sauces, fried), hamburgers, club sandwiches, guacamole, nachos and more.

All their dishes are prepared from scratch, so they thank you for waiting patiently. Mind you, the wait is not that long and well worth it. The view of the sea, the pier, the people and the vendors makes the wait pleasant. They also have tables and service on the beach plus offer fishing trips, rides on the banana, chaise lounges for sunning, volleyball, jet skis and power boat rides.
